The Special Liberty Project:

The Special Liberty Project is a non-profit serving veterans, military families and Gold Star Widows and mothers. When it relocated its HQ to Franklin it needed an introduction to its new community while ensuring its leaders built critical local relationships while educating the community about its services. With Stewart paving the way, Special Liberty Project CEO Jessica Merritt met with local county commissioners, veterans groups and business leaders at the Franklin Chamber of Commerce to plan one of the first public events since COVID shut down the county in 2020. Our ribbon cutting attracted state representatives, county commissioners, Congressional candidates, business leaders and numerous veterans to celebrate SLP’s arrival. The event was covered by every local newspaper and even WLOS-TV from Ashville. Stewart and SLP followed that successful event with a Memorial Day event adding WNCC radio to the media coverage. One of our best success stories comes from WLOS later returning to Franklin to produce a feature on SLP and the homecoming of co-founder and husband to Jessica, Cory Merritt.
